Research Into Digipaks

The Digi-Pak of Rhianna shows her as a sex object towards men which would make her more appealing as she is wearing a skimpy outfit. This is a common convention for the female artist because 'sex sells'.

The two large pictures appear to look the same or very similar, the one on the right shows a close up of Rhianna and her beauty but yet also includes her wearing a dress with a very low neckline and she appears to be wearing a bikini. The full body image on the left shows Rhianna and her full body which would create a larger sex appeal than the one on the right as you are able to see the pose that she is doing a lot more easily along with her body. In the empty space which would have been around her in the photo there is some writing which I am assuming is talking about Rhianna and the songs which are included on this particular album. At the bottom of this there are three other pictures which look as though to be her previous albums, these are put here in order to create audience awareness to her previous work.

The colours used in this Digi-Pak are warm colours such as brown and orange etc. this connotes to Rhianna's ethnic background being that she is from Barbados. The layout of this Digi-Pak make it seem as though Rhianna is inviting you into her world/her music with the sultry pose that is being used by her.

The digipak of Avril Lavigne shows her as a girly punk rather than being like Rhianna and being advertised as a sex object. The image on the right of Avril shows her in a saultry sexy pose which is less obvious than Rhianna's but yet has the same sort of effect although she isn't in skimpy clothes. The image of her on the right shows her being feminine compared to how she used to dress. Down the left hand side of the image there is writing like there was on Rhianna's which could be saying about Avril and the songs features on the album (the same as Rhianna). The bottom of the image is also advertising three of her previous albums creating awareness for new fans who haven't heard her old stuff.

The colours of Avril Lavigne's digipak are a mixture between black and pink, this connotes her music genre being pop/rock, pink connoting pop and black connoting rock. The pose that Avril is using shows her innocence unlike Rhianna's; Avril looks as though she is welcoming in a friend into her world/music where as Rhianna looks as though it's into her home.
